The University of Pittsburgh's chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers was founded in 2013 by a small group of students with the support of our advisor, Dr. Badie Morsi. In just one year, our chapter grew to over 100 students. We attribute our growth and success to a hard-working board, industry support and the involvement of our members.
Our chapter is part of the largest individual-member organization which serves managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. SPE offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the profession through its programs and activities and many of its accomplishments are driven by its dedicated members.
Students from all disciplines are encouraged to join SPE if they have an interest in E&P within the oil and gas industry. Joining is free for students.
